Contact Details

Helen Webb is an award winning wildlife photographer and member of Oxford Photographic Society. The Red Kite Hide has been running for 6 years with daily feeding of both red kites and buzzards.

Description

The hide is located within a large garden adjacent to an old wooded copse and situated facing North to give the best morning and evening light. A short walk from the car park gives easy accessibility to those with general fitness. The permanent wooden hide can accommodate 2 photographers comfortable (3 at a push). A mobile hide can be set up if advance notice is given. Birds are usually fed mid morning so early starts are not necessary but entering the hide at least 30 minutes prior to feeding is advised. Up to 40 Red Kites have been feeding at one time however the average (between 10-20) depends entirely on weather and neighbouring activity. The hide operates all year round with differing garden birds including green woodpeckers, greater spotted woodpeckers, nuthatch, jay, corvids and garden birds all in the vicinity. Recommended lens choices would be from 200mm – 400mm.
